Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

From out of the state and wanted some decent mexican food. Found Cilantro's on Yelp and glad I did. A small hole-in-the-wall, but awesome food! Had steak tacos and they were perfect. Would highly recommend.

We tried this place on a whim since we were coming back from O'Hare airport and I loved it! I got a steak burrito a vanilla churro and a chocolate flan cake and they were all delicious! If you're ever out that way towards O'Hare go ahead and try this place out for good Mexican food!

This is a sweet find! Love this place. It is a small, hole-in-the-wall place that most people drive by, but it is great. Not a whole lot of seating in the winter, but they have a nice outside patio for the warmer months. They have a great menu with excellent food. I have the Cilantro Platter which is a Taco, a Tamale and a Quesadilla. You can choose between wheat or corn tortillas, and you can also chose your meat. Comes with Rice & Beans. Under $8 for lunch is awesome! I had the Steak Taco which was simple and yet extremely flavorful. The Chicken Tamale was excellent, and the Quesadilla was fantastic. I even ate all of my rice and beans, which I don't normally do. And then there are the three sauces. The red sauce has excellent flavor, but not kick to it. The first green sauce is creamy, and has a bit of a kick. The other green sauce has a good kick, and is also extremely flavorful. I had a burrito once, and it was huge, dripping, and full of amazing flavor! They also have pickled veggies on the counter. Carrots, onions and peppers. I love this place!

Great cesina tacos. I use to drive all the way in the city for great tacos . I'm glad I stop in.

Cilantro has fantastic fucking tacos, and that's coming from a Mexican ;)! I had the tacos de Asada and Pastor when I went and absolutely loved them!!! They also have a great selection of salsas. The environment is very clean and hip. They have room to dine in or outdoors which is really nice. Cilantro's service is also incredibly quick!!! Definitely a spot you should check out if you already haven't!

It was okay. I tried 3 tacos: al pastor, carne asada, and chile relleno. First, the tacos are really small but for $1.85 I can't complain too much. Out of the three I have to say the al pastor was my fav and I'm pretty picky with al pastor. The steak was average and the chile relleno was very small (like a quarter of a chile relleno) and it was also very greasy which made me feel gross. The one thing I did like is that there was not fat on any of the meat which a lot of places tend to leave on. I would give them another try, they have a pretty extensive menu for a small little corner joint. Place looked clean (I usually don't go for any joint along Mannheim Rd.) but they had a nice and welcoming sign that lured me in. Also, the staff was friendly which means a lot compared to this other Mexican place I go to.

I first tried their steak tortas which I thought wasn't too bad. The bread seemed over sized based on the portion, Although I enjoyed the Mexican BBQ taco. i didn't think much of the ground beef. I know the place is called Cilantro but did they REALLY have to put equal amount of cilantro to meat ratio? The location is small. After ordering my food I walked outside because people were already eating inside and there was a line. The air conditioning vent when you walk through was dripping something bad I assume it was the condensation from the cold air si hopefully they get that fix. Although at the time I would have said I can see myself eating here again. Now that Taquerias Atotonilco has opened up two blocks down with same food but better flavor. the only reason why I might come is for the Mexican BBQ taco which I didn't see on Taquerias Atotonilco menu.

Cute little place in the middle of nowhere land. Sorry Stone Park, no one likes you. But you do have a little gem of a taco restaurant here. Came here for lunch with a friend. Fresh delicious tacos of all kinds and my usual side, yummi melty quesadillas. Friendly service, descent prices, and easy to get in and out in a jiffy if you're in a rush. Parking lot right out front. If you chose to eat in, there are several stools and countertop space to eat there.
(4)Jackie T.
This place did not impress me. The tortillas are so thick that's all I feel like I'm eating. They are also a little pricer compared to other taco places I've been to. It's also a little tight in there.
(3)Christy W.
My husband and I stopped here out of the blue and the food was AWESOME! Some of the best tacos I've had. Not a lot of room to dine in but the staff was very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back to get our taco fix!
(5)Mark G.
Flavorless. For real though. I don't think I've ever had such insipid tacos before. I can't even say it tasted bad, because even "bad" requires taste. So does "good" though. Props for the pickled cauliflower & carrots they included with the tacos, but that's not enough incentive to come back. Skip this place. There's better options in the area.
(2)James C.
Fast, cheap, simple taco place. Surrounding area is a dump but good location. The place is beginning to become popular and lunch times are reaching 5 minutes for food. A few bar seats and 4 outside tables.
(5)Filippo C.
Been here twice and have only ordered tacos which were hands down best tasting tacos around here that I've tried. Even the extremely soft taco shells they use appear to be greased up a bit with some taco flavor. Here is how I rank the type of tacos I've tried: 1) Chicken - shredded chicken with unique great tasting flavor 2) Steak - great flavor and no fat 3) Al Pastor - Just the right amount of "al pastor" flavor that is not overwhelming or too little 4) Barbacoa - Juicy & Meaty
(5)James C.
This is simply the best.
(5)Greg L.
I don't have any complaints about this place at all. I ordered two pollo tacos (that's chicken, for all you non-spanish speakers) with a side of griller jalapenos and onions. The jalapenos were hot, the tacos were great. I was plenty full, and may opt out of a side next time entirely. Stop by, the food is prepared fast. The owner prides himself on friendly service and fresh ingredients, which are both evident when you receive your order.
(5)Steven L.
Good food! I will always come back i just moved to the area and I can't wait to go back
(3)Andy M.
Great taco stand in. a great area regardless of previous elitists review. This place is small and use to be a hot dog stand longtime as. It is now a taqueria with some of the best tacos in the area and that is saying a lot given competition in the immediate vicinity
(4)Terence V.
Definitively one of the best burros I've had in the Chicago land area. The smell when you walk in is awesome and made my mouth water. Coke in a bottle is always a plus! If you order a burrito with everything it automatically comes with avocado and the prices are still decent!
(5)Junior D.
Driving around the area so I decided to stop by this place since it just opened up and I frequently visited the old restaurant that was once located here. Totally disappointed, one with the wait time and the food.. I ordered 2 tortas but they came in different size bread yet charged me the same for both... One looked like a hamburger bun while the other was bigger and actually a "torta" bread.. The steak was just bland..No "grill" flavor since its just cooked on a flat top...But the sign says otherwise.. The burrito was big but the steak again tasted bland.. Pastor taco was aight.. nothing to write about.. The only good thing was the tacos de tripas but how do you mess that up and the torta de milanesa with the real torta bread. I ordered to go and thought this was fast food but I wait between 20-25 minutes for my food.. That probably had to do with my fries being put in the fryer while the rest of my food was ready...So there I am staring at my food wrapped up while my fries are barely being put in the fryer.. so then I waited....and waited.... I paid $35 for a burrito, 4 tacos, 2 tortas, order of fries and 2 drinks... Do yourself a favor and drive 2 blocks north to Super Tacos and you won't be disappointed with flavors or price...

I had the 3 chicken taco dinner. Simply amazing. Haven't had tacos this good in a long time and I frequent Mexican restaurants around. Friendly staff; the cashier offered my brother and I samples of some of their Hispanic fountain drinks as we waited for our food. Highly recommend this place to anyone driving through Stone Park.
(5)Gene C.
The best chicken tacos I've ever had. Big fan of this place.
(4)Genie B.
Friendly service, good tacos, what more could you ask for? Stop by for a quick lunch, totally worth. Steak tacos are delish!
(4)Diane T.
Fast, relatively inexpensive and good food. Love the steak tacos!
(5)Marcella P.
I would not. Recommend. This place. It small. Floors dirty. Customer service poor. And over price. 8.99 for a steak burrito . ? WTF. It's not even a dinner but that's. Not. All. I had to get up. To the front. Because my server. Was no wee to be found. And. Ask. This tacos al pastor. Are horrible. We're is the onion and cilantro? The. Green eyes cashier. Said. They only come. With sauce. Iam like. WTF!!!!!! Any how. ThTs. Not all folks. There's more No flavor. On the food. The. Strawberry shake was horrible nothing here has flavor. sorry Get a reall. Chef. Some one who knows. How to cook.... Then I saw the cashier. Grabbing. Money and not washing. Her. Hands. And she goes and cut some lemons. Wow. Health department. Needs to see this OSHA .

Love this lil gem, although it's a tiny place there food is very good. Al pastor, Cecina or Steak Tacos are a most try. There avocado salsa is a must, it's the best salsa I've try.
(4)Paty S.
To start, I was unclear clear as to what one of the previous reviews had stated. Something about $8.00 burritos, horrible strawberry shakes, lack of service and unsanitary conditions? Well, upon closer reading of her review and contemplating my own experience, I realized that she clearly was talking about the new taco place down the street from Cilantro. To start, their menu clearly shows that their burritos are $5.75. Their burrito dinner (which includes all the extra tasty sides) is $8.75. If she paid $8.00 for a burrito dinner at Cilantro, then she obviously got a discount. Also, if you look at their drink menu, they don't even serve shakes. I realized later that the photograph posted in that review, had the name of the taco place down the street. What a relief, because my experience at Cilantro was extremely pleasant and will most definitely have me going back. While it is true, it is a small establishment, it is clear that they really don't need much more space than what they have. They have 3 nice lengthy counters and stools inside and for the warmer weather, they have seating outside. Throughout the entire time I was there, that place was busy! That line was in constant movement. The staff was very attentive and patient with customers who came in unsure of what they wanted. The food is extremely fresh and made to order. So, if that means I have to wait an extra 5-10 minutes for my food, I'm ok with that! The tomatoes were crisp, the avocado was perfectly ripe. They have a house salsa like no other I have ever tasted. It's the perfect kind of spicy! One of the staff members made it his responsibility to not only work behind the counter, but kept a watchful eye on the customers so that the could maintain the counters clean and help them discard their trash and wipe up for the next eat-in customers. I had the asada torta. The meat is seasoned nicely and has a unique grilled flavor. I especially love how their teleras (bread used for the tortas) are nicely toasted. I'm guessing I probably should have ordered the al pastor since it appears that might be their specialty? Almost everybody that I saw there ordered it. Absolutely trying that my next visit. Yes, this isn't a highfalutin Mexican restaurant, but it IS a quality place to enjoy a quick bite. The staff are attentive to the customer's needs and thats a huge plus for me. Can't wait to try the al pastor next time!
(5)George M.
Excellent food. I have eaten there 4 times and everything is delicious. I will use them for catering at work. Very reasonably priced and such tasty authentic Mexican food. Love it! The staff is extremely polite and friendly. A must eat!

any body that knows EL CILANTRO RESTAURANT ... most tried that cecina style guerrero super delicius!!!!
(5)Aliza M.
The food here was excellent. I have been to a lot of Mexican places, but the food here is very authentic. The only part I did not like is the size of the place. It can feel very crowded at times, especially during lunch. Not a lot of room inside. Outside seating is available, but I have just taken it to go and eaten it at home to avoid the lack of space.
